Season 1 covers the first 30 chapters of the book "The Wave" – the book has 82 chapters
Scenario
The men and women live in a giant silo underground with a few rules they believe were put in place to protect them from the toxic and broken world above. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about.
Spinning this way doesn’t push or pull any air
The floor fans in various episodes spin in the wrong direction when it comes to the orientation of the blades. Featured in WatchMojo: Top 10 TV Shows of 2023 You Should Watch (2023).
And when that status quo that maintains order is challenged, coercion and punishment ensue
It’s an interesting look at the history of an underground bunker for people who have survived underground for so long that a civilization has emerged with lore, myths, beliefs, rituals, and ceremonies rooted in events that have been forgotten, and a social structure based on the status quo. A power structure is formed, creating a stratified population, both figuratively and literally, from the top to the bottom of the silo.
Good acting by Oyelowo, with familiar faces in Rashida Jones and Will Patton
That’s the premise, and while it’s not exactly original (think Snowpiercer, Dark City, etc.), there’s enough novelty here and it seems well-executed for a TV series. (But as you can tell from the show’s poster, they’re guest stars who will make way for the regular cast, with Rebecca Ferguson as the lead.) The show looks pretty decent, with good production values.
There are elaborate sets and good CGI to provide a believable atmosphere
While a suspicious mind will pick up on some obvious conspiracies early on, there are mysteries revealed that will keep me watching.
